Living Laboratories

Living Laboratories incorporate the following themes:

  • Meditation to establish a calm, supportive environment
  • Superconscious Living Exercises to raise and focus student energy
  • Entering the Child’s World to deepen teacher/student relationships
  • Life Skills Development for the Body, Feelings, Will, and Intellect
  • Guidance for students along the Progressive Development Spectrum from Heavy, through Ego-Active, toward Light consciousness
  • Awakening enthusiasm through the use of fun, engaging activities

How it Works

  • Laboratory Sessions meet once or twice a week with 8-12 students per teacher.
  • Each cycle concludes with an end-of-year Awards Ceremony where each child is recognized for a character quality or life skill that they excel in.

Assessment Data

One of the challenges of implementing an approach as revolutionary as Education for Life is validating our results. Changes we see all the time can’t be measured by a simple standardized test. In bringing EFL into the Indian public schools, we’ve come up with two means of assessing student growth. For the elementary years, teachers were asked to score students on the themes of: Level of Engagement, Connection with the Teacher, Affinity towards Meditation, Overall Happiness, and Awareness of Values in Daily Life. At the secondary level, students assessed themselves in the 28 qualities on our Tools of Maturity Checklist which covers development of the Body, Feeling, Will, and Intellect. In both instances we were able to track progress from the beginning to end of a cycle. The results are available at these links.
